UPDATE ON COVID-19 3/27/20

Dear Parishioners, Grace and peace to you!

  • Today, March 27, Friday, 10am (Arizona Time), the Holy Father Pope Francis will give a special Urbi (to the City of Rome) et Orbi (to the World) Blessing
  • This service which includes the celebration of the Word of God, Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament, Urbi et Orbi Blessing and the offering of plenary indulgence will be livestreamed at vaticannews.va/en and vaticannews.va/es and other media outlets.
  • I highly encourage you to tune-in to receive plenary indulgence which is the remission of the temporal punishment due to sin (CCC, 1471). This blessing is normally given on Christmas and Easter but because of the devastation of the Coronavirus pandemic, the Holy Father will impart this special blessing to all the faithful present including those attending virtually. Please don’t miss this opportunity especially at this moment of terrible crisis. We are all affected by virtue of faith and humanity. Our humble contribution in this global disaster, is intercession, solidarity and cooperation.
  • RELIGIOUS EDUCATION/CCD is still canceled until further notice. As of this writing, there is no timeline as we are dependent on diocesan directives and government guidelines which many of us, if not all, are closely following. If CCD don’t meet again this school year, First Holy Communion and Confirmation will probably be moved in the fall of 2020 (tentative). I will send you updates ahead of time. Also, I regret to inform you that Sister Veronica del Carmen, OCD, Director of Religious Education at St. Luke Parish, a registered nurse by profession, has been asked to assist in a healthcare facility in Southern California run by our very own OCD. She’s leaving on Saturday, March 28.
  • The hours of operation for our three PARISH OFFICES have been reduced effective immediately until further notice. Please call the office first to see if your question/concern can be addressed over the phone or through email, instead of walking-in, in order to avoid social contact.
